UTICA, N.Y. – The Boilermaker Road Race, the premier road race of Central New York, is celebrating its 40th year running and is welcoming many an honorable guests to our area to help celebrate the milestone with us! One such attendee is famous marathon man Bill Rodgers.

Bill Rodgers is an American runner and former American record holder in the marathon who is best known for his victories in the Boston Marathon and the New York City Marathon in the late 1970s. Bill won the Boston Marathon in 1975 and he broke the Boston and the American record (2:09:55), going on the win both the Boston and New York City Marathons four times each over the next five years.

In 1998, Rodgers was inducted in the first round to the National Distance Running Hall Of Fame in Utica, New York.

Rodgers will be in Utica July 6th – July 9th to attend our sponsored events as well as to participate in the 15K road race. In addition, he will receive a factory tour of our Utica facility with members of our corporate office to see how our boilers are manufactured and to hear about the rich history of ECR International and Utica Boilers.
